In the Broken Skies collection I explored the themes of light and dark, the opposing forces of each that have a beauty and depth independently as well as together when they merge. The overall feeling I sense is of calmness, however whilst painting I was able to delve into the colours, to enjoy the richness and texture and feelings that emerged. The gold leaf adds a magical element that you often get when looking at the sky, as well as hinting at something that may have been darker before, but that is now covered in light.
